Our shops raise vital funds to run and develop services for people with learning disabilities and autism in the local area.

We rely on generous donations from our local community help us to stock our shops. Can you help?

Donating to our shops

Thank you for your generous donations to our charity shops.

We can accept clean and working items only. Donations will be gratefully received during opening hours. Our shops are open Monday – Saturday.

Yes, please!

We would be very grateful to receive clean, intact, working items including:

  • Adult and childrens clothing
  • Shoes, bags, belts, luggage
  • Hats, scarves, gloves
  • Jewellery, accessories
  • Toys with the CE or UKCA mark
  • Books
  • Electricals
  • Bric a Brac
  • Textiles and cushions
  • Small furniture
  • Art, frames
  • CDs, DVDs, vinyl
  • Puzzles, games
  • Mirrors
  • Plants

These items help us to raise vital funds for our beneficiaries. We appreciate your support in donating these items.

No, thank you!

We are unable to accept items that are:

  • Damaged, faulty, broken, dirty
  • Large furniture, upholstered furniture without a fire safety regulation label, unless it can be proven to be older than 1950
  • Toys without the CE or UKCA mark
  • Mattresses, duvets, pillows, bath or toilet mats, unless brand new
  • Sharp items such as scissors, knives, blades, tools
  • Hazardous substances
  • Freebies
  • Underwear, unless brand new in sealed packaging
  • Food
  • Sexually explicit or offensive content
  • Drug related items
  • Children’s car seats, mattresses, bike helmets
  • Prescription glasses
  • NHS walking aids

These items cost our charity money to dispose of. We appreciate your support in not donating these items.

Gift Aid

Are you a UK tax payer? Charities in the UK can claim the tax back on the sale of donated goods, meaning your donations could be worth even more! All you need to do is complete this form (link to Online Gift Aid form) and tell us you have registered for gift aid with Worthing Mencap when you donate your goods.

As well as raising funds for our services, our charity shops also offer brilliant volunteering opportunities for everyone, including our beneficiaries. So, by shopping and donating with us you are directly helping some of our beneficiaries learn key work and life skills.
